Geographic Information Systems

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a computer system that includes tools for processing spatial data into information that can be used for making decisions about areas on the earth. The Metropolitan Airports Commission's (MAC) GIS system is a powerful analytical tool that supports decisions affecting thousands of residents. GIS is continually being utilized in new and innovative ways to map and analyze aircraft noise impacts around the MAC system of airports.

New GIS technology now allows public access to the MAC's GIS and Airport Noise and Operations Monitoring System (ANOMS) databases through interactive Web mapping applications.
