Noise Programs/Part 150 Update

To successfully plan for noise compatibility, the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) has prepared a Part 150 study for the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP). "Part 150" is a tool, or process, designed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to help airports identify strategies to make surrounding neighborhoods more compatible with airport noise.

MAC completed its first Part 150 study in 1987 with the first update approved in 1994. In November 2004, MAC submitted an update to the program that included an updated Noise Compatibility Program (NCP) and Noise Exposure Maps (NEM) for MSP. This updated program will set policies and procedures for future noise abatement efforts around MSP, including the Home Mitigation Program. The MAC is currently awaiting the FAA's review and approval of the document.
