Noise Oversight Committee
The Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) established the MSP Noise Oversight Committee (NOC) in August 2002. Its purpose is to bring industry and community representatives together to dialogue about noise issues at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and to bring policy recommendations to the MAC. The group meets every other month. The cities of Minneapolis, Richfield, Bloomington, Eagan and Mendota Heights each have a representative on the committee. The cities of Apple Valley, Burnsville, Inver Grove Heights, St. Paul, St. Louis Park and Sunfish Lake are represented through an at-large membership. Each representative serves a two-year term. Each city is responsible for appointing a representative and an alternate(s). The at-large cities appoint one representative and one alternate from their member cities to represent each of them for the two-year term.
Industry is represented by a Scheduled Air Carrier, a Cargo Carrier, a Charter Operator, a Chief Pilot of an airline serving MSP, the Minnesota Business Aviation Association (MBAA) and an at-large member. All but the MBAA representative are appointed by the MSP Airline and Airport Affairs Committee.
More information about how the NOC is structured can be found in the committee's bylaws (pdf). Members of the public are welcome to attend the meetings. Meetings are typically held at 1:30 p.m. at the executive offices of the MAC. Check our calendar for details.
